What type of ovulation test is best for me?
There are two main types of ovulation tests available: the Midstream Ovulation Test and the Ovulation Strip Test.
Why buy ovulation strip tests?
Ovulation strip tests are generally the more affordable option available on the market. This is an important factor with ovulation tests, because with each cycle numerous tests are used to predict ovulation. The lower price of ovulation strip tests is because they do not have a plastic casing and are often thinner than a midstream test. Strip tests are fantastic because they are low cost, while offering just as accurate results as other types of ovulation tests.
However, strip tests are more fiddly as they require urine to be collected in a collection cup, which can be time consuming and messy.
(Strip tests are also referred to as; ovulation dip tests, ovulation predictor kits, OPK tests, OPKs)
Why buy midstream ovulation tests?
Midstream ovulation tests are a larger ovulation test, which has a plastic casing over the testing area. The casing’s primary purpose is to assist you to collect urine (no need for a collection cup), and also keeps the testing area safe under a clear window, free from contamination and damage.
Most midstream ovulation tests, have a wider testing panel, therefore making the results easier to read. Due to the extra casing and the width of the midstream test, this also makes it more expensive option than the strip test.
