Fertility tracking plays an important role in conceiving for many couples. Home ovulation tests are the best way to find out when you’re most likely to get pregnant.
What To Expect from Home Ovulation Tests
Our ovulation tests identify periods of maximum fertility by detecting a specific hormone in a user’s urine. Luteinising hormone (or LH) in the urine increases before ovulation leading to a clear spike that says, ‘it’s a great time to conceive!’
If your home ovulation test gives a positive result, it’s an optimum time for intercourse and fertilisation. If the result is negative, you can start planning for the next window of opportunity with confidence.
Home ovulation tests are simple, discreet and accurate. A positive result means that 6 to 24 hours of maximum fertility is just about to start. With the ease and convenience of our pocket-sized kits, you’ll never miss the window of opportunity again. Countless studies have shown that ovulation tracking is a highly effective way to conceive.
How to Use Easy Home Ovulation Tests
Our easy home ovulation tests can be used in four quick steps. Even so, we send every customer a downloadable ovualtion test instructions guide with detailed answers on When to use an ovualtion test? How to use an instream ovualtion test and even how to interpret a home ovualtion test results.
These tests are non-invasive, but we want you to feel completely comfortable and confident every step of the way. The Midstream Ovulation Test instructions also include tips on what point in your menstrual cycle to perform a home ovulation test.
Each instream ovualtion stick comes individually wrapped. To use a home ovulation test, first, remove it from its wrapper.
Taking care not to touch the absorbent tip, carefully remove the protective cap. It’s essential you don’t touch the exposed tip because you might contaminate the sample and get an unreliable result.
Holding the test stick underneath your urine stream – like you would if you were taking a pregnancy test – urinate onto the absorbent tip until it is saturated. When you’re finished, replace the protective cap, place the test stick (facing up) on a flat surface and wash your hands.
How to interpret a Home Ovulation Test
Fertility2Family’s easy home ovulation tests detect the presence of (luteinising hormone) LH in urine within 40 seconds. This is all the time you need to wait for a result.
A POSITIVE result is denoted by two coloured lines. If the ovulation stick is positive, you’ll be able to see these lines appear very quickly. The result means you’ll be ovulating within the next 12 to 36 hours and should plan accordingly if you want to get pregnant.
A NEGATIVE result is denoted by a single coloured line next to the word Control. We recommend you wait for ten minutes after performing the test if the result appears to be negative. In some rare cases, it can take a little longer than expected for a positive result to develop, so it’s best to wait until the chemicals have fully developed as per the test instructions.
If there are two lines, but the Test line is much lighter than the Control line, the result is likely negative. Both lines on a positive ovulation stick are consistent in colour.
Frequently Asked Questions
How does a home ovulation test know if it’s a good time to conceive?
Home ovulation tests detect the presence of the luteinising hormone (or LH) in urine. A positive result means the user’s ovary has just released an egg or will release one soon, so fertilisation after sexual intercourse is likely.
When is the best time to take an easy home ovulation test?
You can take an easy home ovulation test at any time to determine if you are in a fertile period. Our ovulation kits contain bulk home ovulation tests, so you’re not likely to run out anytime soon. However, the best way to maximise the value of your home tests is to sync them with your menstrual cycle. Read our downloadable ovulation test instruction guide to find out how to do this. If you’re unsure or cannot consult the instream instructions, take a test on day 11 of your cycle (CD11). Then, take one test per day for five days until you get a positive result that says you’re now ovulating and ready to conceive.
How long will I ovulate after getting a positive test result?
Ovulation is different for everybody, but we advise you to plan for intercourse within 12 to 36 hours after a positive result. This will give you the best chance of falling pregnant.
Are home ovulation kits reliable?
Easy home ovulation tests from Fertility2Family have a 99% accuracy rating if performed correctly. It’s important you read the instructions very carefully and handle the OPK as advised to avoid inaccurate readings. All our test kits are quality checked and meet industry standards for reliability and accuracy.
Can I use a home ovulation test kit to find out if I’m pregnant?
Technically, yes. But we cannot guarantee the accuracy of results if our ovulation tests are used in this way. It’s not what they’re designed for. To a urine test stick, the hormone which indicates ovulation is largely indistinguishable from the hormone which indicates pregnancy. However, we strongly recommend taking a home pregnancy test if you suspect a positive ovulation kit (OPK) means you might be pregnant. A positive home ovulation test is not strong enough proof of conception on its own.
Do I have to buy home ovulation tests?
Fertility2Family sells easy home ovulation tests in a variety of quantities. Our largest pack contains 200 individually wrapped ovulation tests. Our smallest pack contains five ovulation tests. Whatever your fertility tracking needs, we’ve got a home test kit to match.
Do home ovulation tests expire?
Yes, all home ovulation kits have an expiry date. They can be kept and stored for a long time – ours last for 20 months – but they won’t last indefinitely. Ovulation tests contain living antibodies that deteriorate over time. There will be no adverse health effects if you use a test that’s expired, but it may not be accurate. We advise against using expired home ovulation tests because their reliability is impaired.
Can a home ovulation kits tell me when I’m most likely to get pregnant?
If you’re trying to conceive, the best time to have intercourse is within 12 to 36 hours after a positive home test. This is when you’ll be at your most fertile, as evidenced by the two coloured lines on the test stick.
What does it mean if the Test line is much lighter than the Control line?
Ovulation test results are different from pregnancy test results as a faint line does NOT indicate a positive result. You should only assume a positive result if both lines are dark and clear. If the Test line is significantly lighter than the Control line, the result is negative, and you are not ovulating yet. A result of this type (faint Test line, dark Control line) doesn’t mean you won’t start ovulating soon. It just means this isn’t the most optimum time to conceive. When the result shows two dark lines, you are optimally fertile.
Are there any ways to increase my reproductive health and fertility?
Fertility supplements are a safe, affordable way to boost reproductive health and general health and fitness when trying to conceive. There are hundreds of brands and combinations to choose from so, if you’re unsure, ask your doctor for advice. Conceive Plus Women’s Ovulation & PCOS Support is one of our most popular reproductive supplements. It’s ideal for women suffering from PCOS and other conditions that affect healthy menstrual cycle regulation.
